Hakka handmade noodle @ Nyan Shin Cafe in Kuching

Ok. I know a lot of people have blogged about this, but as a faithful customer of their noodle store, I gotta blog about them anyway.... THIS IS A MUST EAT NOODLE IF YOU BEEN TO KUCHING OTHERWISE YOU WILL REGRET!!!!!!  hehehhe~ this is how I praise them... So if you don't know where the Nyan Shin Cafe is, find you way to Carpenter Street in Kuching, they are waiting for you.

Because I am a Buddhist so I never try their beef noodle but I heard my friend said it's equally good as other flavour. Today I would recommend their Lamb noodle, Chicken noodle, Pork noodle and their "Mouse Tail" which I directly translate from Chinese because I don't know what it calls in English but in Mandarin, it is named as "Lao Shu Fen" and Hakka "Lo Shu Shi". Though I only have the picture of lamb noodle and chicken noodle. Sorry.... ;)

So the special thing about their noodle is the noodle itself (If you eat the lamb flavoured noodle, the lamb is very nice as well) Their noodle is purely handmade by their family members and the taste of egg (I guess that taste is from egg? I don't know. It's simply nice anyway.) are so outstanding. The noodle is very springy and if you eat with the lamb, there will be another different taste. One more credit for them is their noodle include crackling!!! which is shown in the picture below (the golden stuff on the top of noodles). and now you can imagine how delicious it is! So, if you are visitor of Kuching, I suggest you to order 2 bows, one chicken/pork so that you can eat the original taste, another lamb or beef, so you can have another kind of taste. Both are delicious!

So, that's all for today. See you guys next time. Tata.

p/s: Sorry for the blur picture provided... I was too excited to eat the noodle so I don't actually check how was the photo.

Food store at the road side of Tapah (22nd mile- outskirt of kuching)

So if you travel to Serian or wherever, and you may pass by Tapah or you just simply want to find nice food, I would recommend you a food store at the road side of Tapah's main road after the buddha pavilion. I do not know the name of the store because there is no sign of it but I do know the number of their store is No. 2. :)  Ok, their food is really really nice especially their chicken feet (you can't find any nicer chicken feet in Kuching at least I never eat any chicken feet nicer than theirs in Kuching), fried rice, craypot fish/kueh tiew/ bee hoon/ noodle, and their lemon chicken. These are the MUST EAT food if you patronise their store. Beside than that, you can try their baby kailan, hokkien noodle etc. it's nice too.

So, this is how the store looks, it's just opposite the 100% discount store located in Tapah. They only operate at night time, though I am not too sure about their operating hours.
So how nice is the food? I would introduce their chicken feet first. The chicken feet is fat and very very soft. when you eat it, you can feel the collagen is dancing in your mouth. and the taste is very simple but yet, very nice... I guess the ingredients include dark soya source, ginger, garlic shoot and maybe some other things I do not know...

So next, fried rice. I do not know how they make it, but it is extraordinarily nice. I see they only fried with chicken, eggs, garlic, and green onion but it is magically nice... you have to try it out and try to figure what is their mysterious ingredients... hehehe~

This time we ordered craypot bee hoon but I can tell you whatever craypot they have are all delicious!!!!!! I am being too lazy to describe so please just look at the picture... I don't know how to describe too... I mean come on, your gotta try it out.

It's sad that we did not order lemon chicken this time (because I just recovered from fever, flu and cough) thus I am so so so sorry that I am unable to show you guys the picture but do order it if you patronise to their store... and you can try their baby kailan as well, it's mysteriously crunchy....

Last but not least, Hokkien noodle... this may be a bit different from Singapore's hokkien noodle but anyway, the name is hokkien noodle as well...  whatever... it's nice anyway~

Ok, so that's all for today... will update the next blog after I attended to nice place ate the nice food. tata~

Dinner at Hoi Tin Lou Restaurant in Kuching

The last day of year 2012, I had my dinner at Hoi Tin Lou Restaurant which is located at Jalan Mendu in Kuching. I strongly recommend  if you feel like to have Chinese cuisine for dinner or even lunch.

So, the suggested dishes include spinach noodle, roasted piglet, Thai style midin, Vietnamese prawn, and oyster pancake. Though there are so many nice dishes available at the but I'll recommend these few dishes at the moment. Additionally, the chief is a winner of few international chinese cuisine competition in china.

The spinach noodle tasted very different from other kind of noodles, plus, I guess the noodle is handmade so it tasted very special. How special is it? try it out then you know. The roasted piglet is so so crispy on the skin but soft in the meat. When you eat the meat, you will feel that it's melting in your mouth and you don't even need to chew much. Thai style  midin very tasteful especially the dry salted shrimp stirred with the midin enhance the taste of midin up to another level. Vietnamese prawn tasted sweet and spicy served with its bun which is crispy on the skin but soft inside. oyster pancake is very crispy too and the amount of oyster just right for the whole dish so you wont feel disgusted. Let's stop reading and look at the pictures. I am really bad in explaining how nice the food tasted, so it's best if you can try it out.

JiYun cafe at Siburan along Kuching Serian road

Ok, If you to travel to Siburan (17th mile - Outskirt of Kuching city), maybe visit the hot spring, Jong's crocodile farm or wherever and you expected to take quite long until night time, you may need to find some cafe for dinner. Of course you would like to find some nice food as well, so, I recommend JiYun Cafe located behind the Petronas at Siburan. the pictures below show the food I Strongly recommend for your dinner.

So, the recommended dishes include fried kampung chicken with ginger, venison with ginger, homemade bean curb, sayur manis fried rice noodle, midin, thaisytle chicken feet and Nestum prawns.

The kampung chicken is actually organic chicken which has a lot of exercises and only eat corns, the meat is sweet and chewable, the vanition is soft, but the dishes I would like to highlight are homemade bean Curb, Nestum or butter prawns and their thai chicken feet. the homemade bean curb is made up of soya bean and has a very nice tasture of the bean. imagine if you eat the bean curb with a very special source... it's like the bean curb dancing on your tongue, and the partner of the bean curb is the source, they dance beautifully and happily until the end of their life...  The chicken feet of course tasted spicy and sour... but the feet itself is boneless and a crispy... if you like to eat spicy food, you may require them to make the source more spicy... For Nestum prawns, or butter prawn or butter whatever (cause they all taste good... the cook of this cafe really master on nestum and butter things), their taste is very milky. when u eat it, you will feel the smell of butter or nestum is all over your mouth and it is lasting even after you have swallow the food... ok, i don't know how to explain. you really need to try it.

That's all for today. Tata.

Howdy grillhouse at Brighton square in kuching

ok. Today I would like to recommend Howdy grill house located at Brighten Square along Jalan Song beside Cosway bay. The dishes I would like to talk about today is fish and chips and their pork platter. though I heard that their popular  is their pork rib. Anyway, let's have a look on the picture I took.

ok, if you like to know how's the taste like, the pork is nicely grilled and really tasteful. Buy I more prefer their fish and chips. They are really soft, no fishy smell and not overcooked. when you eat it, it will melt in your mouth and you don't Even have to chew. totally recommended.

Batu lintang - jong's seafood in kuching.

I dunno you ever try the cafe at roadside along jalan batu lintang.(the one to serbakas) I am totally recommend if you like to eat beancurb and oyster cake teochew style. I forgot to take the picture of the food because I was too excited to eat when it has been served.

The food here is nice... but personally, I love their pork leg, crispy beancurb, and their oyster cake teochew style. The special of these dishes are - the pork leg is soft enough and the taste is just right. Not too salty or tasteless. Just right. Besides, the beancurb is homemade beancurb with some vegetables inside. Tasteful yet the skin is so crispy but the content still soft. Oyster cake, I don want to talk much, it just simply delicious.  Full of oyster...

What I can do now is show you the picture of the restaurant.

Japanese restaurant 'Bento Ramen' in kuching.

There are quite a number of japanese restaurant in kuching. However, there are only few that tasted nice.
As for today, I am going to talk about Bento Ramen that located at Jalan Song beside life cafe. I just ordered sakana tempura bento, salmon topping ebiko maki and an ocha(Japanese tea). The tea is refillable. And overall the price is reasonable, potion quite big for me, most importantly, the food tasted nice! Recommmended to dine there.
The fish tempura is so crispy and I like thier salmon, no fishy smell and really tasted soft and nice. No harm to have a try. :)
